Q: I am British, but don't live in the UK, can I still apply?
A: No, all participants need to be UK residents when applying.
Q: I’m a writer with a genre film project but I don’t have a producer. Can I still apply?
A: The projects that will be considered need to have a writer (or writer/director) and one producer attached at minimum. It can also include a director.
Q: Can I submit a documentary or an animation?
A: This initiative is for live-action feature films. Under some circumstances, we might consider animation if it fits the genre criteria.
Q: Are there any restrictions on genre?
A: The projects must be live-action feature films within the genres of Horror, Sci-fi, Fantasy, Action or Thriller. We are open to considering any time period or blend of genres for a live-action feature film.
Q: What will the stipend cover, and who will receive it?
A: Thanks to BFI Creative Challenge Fund support, each participant will receive a stipend for participating in the workshops. The final amount will be determined in agreements with the participants and calculated on an equal and non-discriminatory basis.

Q: When will I know if my project is selected?
A: The selection of the 12 projects that will go through the Online Workshop will be announced end of August 2024. The 5 projects that will advance till the next phase will be announced beginning of November 2024.

Q: Who is required to attend the workshop if my project is selected?
A: Both writer/director and producer are required to attend both the Online Workshop and the On-site Workshop if the project gets selected. Only the writer/director will attend the Pop Up Film Residency unless requested otherwise by the producer.
