Programme

Overview

The UK Next Wave Genre Lab aims to support emerging genre filmmakers by providing them with hands-on tools and industry outreach to achieve international exposure and success. The programme includes:

Online Workshop

12 projects will take part in masterclasses and individual sessions  tackling script writing and production. This workshop will take place exclusively online and will consist of masterclasses and one-on-one online mentoring sessions. The Online Workshop will span over 10 days between September 5th and October 25th.

Onsite 5-day Workshop

Held in Cardiff, this in-person workshop will provide 5 projects selected among the 12 projects with in-depth training and mentorship across development, marketing, legal and international distribution. From 24th till 28th November.

Tailor-Made Pop Up Film Residencies of 3 weeks

The writers/directors of the 5 selected projects will receive a three-week residency in an inspiring location to finalize their scripts. They will be paired with a mentor specifically suited to their project's needs at this stage. These tailored residencies foster international partnerships and cross-cultural collaborations and are hosted by the Pop Up Film Residency International Network.
